IMPECCABLE CONSTRUCTION
It takes time to find the right manufacturers that truly care about quality and details as much as we do. In fact, it has taken us nearly 5 years. The attention to detail in tooling design, polishing, and in the injection itself yields a perfect object with no injection or flow marks. The best quality plastic brewer in the industry – PERIOD. We dare you to compare this with anything anyone else is making. Made from a single-piece of 100% food-safe, BPA Free Tritan plastic. Polished to perfection and manufactured with care in a family-run boutique plastic factory. The O1 set the standard for what a plastic brewer can look like, and the O2 is the same, in a bigger body.
SUPERIOR MATERIALS
There are some industry secrets and rumours of incorrect plastic labelling by many companies making “cheap brewers”. In fact, many brewers that are labelled as TRITAN are not – they are made using a lower-grade PCTG material. This material is less impact-resistant, less optically clear, and feels quite different. We use the true Eastman Tritan material, made in USA 🇺🇸. Using the real deal is important – even if it’s more expensive – because we know the material is safe at high temperatures and will last as intended. The original made in USA material has been used by reputable companies like Nalgene for cold and hot water contact bottles for years.
UNIBODY
The OREA Brewer O2 is a clean, single-piece work of art. Simple, light, and very compact – with no moving parts. If you prefer a zero-fuss, easy-to-clean, simple and flexible brewer – this one’s for you.
ORIGINAL OPEN BOTTOM
Our original OPEN bottom design has featured in our Glass, Porcelain, V4 plastic, and O1 brewers for years. The OPEN bottom provides a ridge for the flat paper to stand atop, designed to find the perfect balance of support and space. The paper naturally bends through the middle, encouraging a more central flow of water through the coffee bed. With this style of brewer we find our most unique profile of acidity, with a more conical flow pattern through a shallow flat bottom bed. Candy-like acidity without sacrificing balance, sweetness and body. A masterpiece that has been much duplicated but not yet replicated.
SUPREMELY CONSISTENT
This design has been praised for years by our customers for the consistency brew-to-brew. In a way, it is the design where we interfere least, letting gravity dictate how water flows and how the bed can behave. We love this inherent simplicity and the consistency it brings. The profile in the cup sits somewhere between the conical brewers and traditional flat brewers. Brighter and clean acidity, but a lot of balance. This bottom produces a lighter, more tea-like body than our other flat bottoms, which many praise and love. If you are after brews with thicker body, we recommend our Z1 brewers.
EXTENDABLE
With the release of the O2 come new accessories – like our unique Regulators. Plug and play silicone bottoms that completely change the flow patterns and taste profile of the brewer. While one series explores contact time – the other explores immersion (or hybrid brewing), compatible with the popular Switch base by Hario. In a way, the O2 is our simplest brewer, but it possibly offers the most brewing methods and styles in one, with use of our accessories.
BREWING OPTIONS
While our other new brewer – the Z1 – has just one paper option, the O2 is more flexible. You can brew in various ways and use different types of paper.
BREW WAVE
WAVE filters are easy, fast, and extremely available around the world. They allow more bypass, airflow, and create a narrower bed. Usually under the same parameters, they result in a less concentrated brew. Many like them for their ease of use, plug-and-play nature, and quick brew times. The O2 is compatible with the traditional 185 WAVE sized paper / our LARGE sized WAVE paper.
BREW FLAT
FLAT filters are fun, delicious, and offer a higher quality of brew due to a lowering of bypass and the creation of a wider, shallower bed of coffee in our brewer. Many like them for the juicy, sweet, full-bodied cups they help create by ensuring more water passes through the coffee and less around it. The O2 is compatible with the LARGE, 185 OREA Flat Filters / the LARGE, 185 Sibarist FAST Flat Filters. These filters are labelled O2/V4 filters on our shop.
EXPERIMENT
There is no right answer to which kind of filter to use. It depends on what you value! We continue to explore and to support many brewing styles across our flat bottom brewers. We love to see people really try a lot of – sometimes weird – approaches. It’s in the spirit of OREA – we hope you never stop.
SUPPLY CHAIN CHOICES
We make the O2 in Taiwan with a boutique family-run plastic manufacturer. They treat their workers well and fairly and do their best to source everything locally in Taiwan. They treat their products with special care and respect. We know that our pricing to you – or their pricing to us – will never be the lowest – if you’re looking for that, there are other companies to shop from. We are focused on quality and paying back in the value chain – supporting those that do business the right way. We visit this facility 3-4 times per year, spending time on their factory floor and with their team to ensure we can continue bringing you the best quality products possible.
